Coffee Show Playlist December 17, 2008!

Here's a couple in back-to-back format for your perusing pleasure! This week saw us get back to some older-school songs; as well as a great request for a fantastic band called Totally Michael! There were also several shout-outs to our friends of the Jewish faith in this time of holidays! And last, but certainly not least, we have been playing some new and old music by our good friend Jake Monnin, he of the Mordam Art jingle that you hear each week! He's a super-awesome guy who writes great songs! Coffee Show Playlist December 10, 2008!

Randy has been super-busy finishing the fancy Coffee Show calendar and we hopefully will have a special, totally related surprise regarding that for you blog readers! Oh, man! Keith and Randy are busy at work getting the long-promised and long-delayed Coffee Show Calendar completed for all the fine folks who donated more than $100.00 to this year's FunDrive waaaaay back in March! Coffee Show Playlist November 26, 2008!

Oh, man! Randy and Keith got so stuffed with cranberries in the shape of a can and stuffing that we got super behind on playlists. We are also sad at KGLT's new website making ours virtually obsolete -- but we'll just have to keep trying to find other stuff to provide you here! This week saw us play two old sketches from our dusty trunk of humor: Wafflemasters and The Benny Hill Audio Program. Wafflemasters was a parody of an old PSA for the Toastmasters club, which was quite underwhelming and poorly-acted considering it was for a public speaking organization. The Benny Hill Audio Program was one of the two sketches of ours played many years ago by Dr. Demento on his radio show!

Coffee Show November 19, 2008!

"Hey," you astute readers and listeners are thinking to your respective selves, "What the heck happened to the playlist and blog entry for November 12?! These guys have lost it!" And you'd be completely right! Sadly the program that tracks our playlist did not send a copy to our email the way it usually should and does. So we will all have to consider that week's show a "Secret Special Mystery That Will Remain Just Between Us"! Cool, eh? Anyway, we had some awesome calls, as usual, this last week, and a lot of fun interviewing some of the badass kids from the HMDSS Songwriting Contest and "Footnotes" CD! All Hallow's Eve Coffee Show!!!

Boooooo! Ha, ha, ha! Don't be afraid, Coffeekateers and Coffee Cadets! It's just us, Randy and Keith, back with another Coffee Show! ... Only this one is SCARY! That's right, we celebrated one of our favorite holidays with three hours of music about ghosts, murder, mayhem, the Devil, monsters and deep-voiced country music!

In particular, we welcomed the fantastic Brent Amaker and The Rodeo! These fellas were coming through town with the particular blend of humor and good 'ol country good times, fronted by the deepest-voiced singer since Johnny Cash drank three bottles of whiskey and got punched in the throat! They not only stuck around and did an interview, but they also played five songs live in the studio and it was a raucous great time! (There is a nice shout-out to us on their blog at entry 13!) We have to ask their permission, but we'll try to have some tracks up for you soon as well! If they get back in your neck of the woods, SEE THEM! In the meantime, we highly recommend their forthcoming album "Howdy Do"!

This year ended up with slightly straighter songs and fewer novelty songs (at least, ones VERY heavy on the novelty), and a lot of stuff got pre-empted by the live performence, too! We got several great requests, and tried to accomodate everyone that we could!

There's also this presidential election thing coming up -- and it seems like it might count for something. So we threw in a couple of (spooooky) politically-themed songs to help remind everyone to vote early or on Tuesday, November 4th. We're sure our endorsement doesn't matter, but for the record: we like our presidents like we like our coffee: Black. GET OUT AND VOTE! (If you are old enough.) IF YOU VOTE, YOU ARE AWESOME!

October 15 ... The halfway point to Hallowe'en!!!

Wow! This one is mightily late! Keith has been getting stuff ready for the "Dead Noon" Bozeman premiere on Hallowe'en night at the old Procrastinator location in Linfield Hall at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st! And Randy has been playing video games and renting people movies! We had a lot of really cool calls this week and had fun giving away many tickets to events -- it always makes for us being on mic a lot, which saves typing below! Two tracks below are from a CD burned from a great scratchy old record by super-awesome listener Nathan in Helena -- we appreciate his continued listening and kindly exposing us to new, older music!

This week was the week where KGLT reports to BMI (the songwriters' publishing house) what songs are played, so that BMI can distribute a check for a dime, probably, to someone for each time their song was played! We never know which week it is, so we can't really plan for it; but it's fun to scramble to play people we think deserve some dough for their songwriting! At these times, we always tend to favor smaller bands, though we have no clue who actually gets paid or not! Hopefully they can get another cup of coffee and keep making music!

Greetings, folks! Another Wednesday has come and gone and we had fun trying to stay awake through the greyness! We played several songs that go waaaay back to the early years of our show, back in 1992; it was fun to reconnect to some old tunes! Some regular listeners might have noticed that we are behind the new Movies Under The Microscope!
